Yamaha Integrating Alexa into Its Audio Products – Even Its Pianos

Coming in October 2017, Yamaha will release an Alexa skill that ties its modern audio products into Amazon’s voice command AI.

Alexa-enabled devices – including the Amazon Echo, Echo Dot, Tap and Echo Show – will soon be able to control key functions of a MusicCast system using voice commands. In addition or alternatively, an Echo device can be used as a music/audio source for a MusicCast system.

Say “Hello” to voice control. Starting in October, an Alexa MusicCast skill will be available for download that allows key functions of MusicCast products to be controlled using your voice. You’ll be able to power on the system, select a MusicCast Playlist or Favorites, adjust the volume, and link rooms all by just speaking a few commands.

Imagine “playing” a piano just by talking to it. With a Yamaha Disklavier ENSPIRE connected to a MusicCast system, the Alexa skill will let you control your piano with your voice and have it play music not only in the living room, but throughout the whole home. It’s truly magical.
