Workaround for EnableLinkedConnections is Not Working for Drive-mapped MMC

The installation of KB3194798 is reported to cause Microsoft Management Consoles (MMC) running from a network share to stop working. Running the MMC from a network share is a rare usage case, but some organizations do it nonetheless.

Microsoft is aware of the issue, but has provided no ETA on the fix. Susan Bradley, patching maven and IT/Dev Connections speaker, has offered a temporary fix supplied to her from Microsoft…

We have been told to use the following workarounds in the meantime:
  1. Mapping the drive to the direct UNC path rather than using DFSN
  2. Using Group Policy to deploy network drive mappings, instead of a login script.
