Windows Server 2016 TP5 Began Rebootarama on Feb 18, Expires on April 18

Technical Previews (TP) of products expire after a certain period of time – particularly when the actual product is released. For its technical preview builds of its server product, Microsoft inserts code that causes it to reboot every 2 hours as a warning that the entire server version will simply stop working on a specific date.

Such is the case for Windows Server 2017 Technical Preview 5 (TP5). This was originally scheduled to begin the reboot cycle in December, but Microsoft extended the deadline after missing a release. So, TP5 started its reboot cycle on February 28, 2017. Some of you may have noticed.

The new deadline for full expiration is now April 18, 2017.
