UPDATE: As of Friday, October 5, 2018, Microsoft has now pulled Windows 10 1809 due to an overwhelming amount of reported bugs. See: Microsoft Removes Buggy Windows 10 1809 Upgrade
As reported earlier, some Windows customers are reporting problems upgrading to Windows 10 1809. One known issue where Microsoft is recommending not to upgrade is over an Intel audio driver.
Microsoft doesn’t yet have this new problem on any of its public bug lists, but customers using HP Spectre laptops are having problems installing the upgrade.
The machine will install the update but when it restarts and begins to configure the update it hangs on the hp logo with the spinning dots.
Tried Windows Update 1809, freeze during reboot with HP logo and spinning dots. Then I try updating with Windows 10 Installation media and still freeze during reboot.
Same error here. I have even gone so far as to do a clean install using the media creation tool. Right after it reboots the hp logo comes up and the spinning dots begin, then grind to a halt and it locks up. Have left it for over an hour. Eventually it blue screens and reboots. Rinse and repeat.
According to one HP customer, this is an old issue that Microsoft and HP knew about that wasn’t resolved during the Insider builds.
