Where Are My Log Files in Configuration Manager?

By Joseph Yedid

For those new to System Center Configuration Manager (CM), finding log files can be a bit of a hassle, so here’s a brief guide to help you locate these files.

CM 2012

The site server log files are found here: <Install location>Logs. In my case it is D:Program FilesMicrosoft Configuration ManagerLogs.

In general the site server’s preferred location for client log files is here: Drive:Program FilesSMS_CCMLogs.

For CM 2012 clients, the log file location will always be found in the same location, %windir%CCMLogs. In my case it is C:WindowsCCMLogs.

For a complete list of CM 2012 log files see:

CM 2007

The site server log files are found here: <Installed locations>Logs. In my case it is D:Program Files(x86)Microsoft Configuration ManagerLogs.

In general the site server’s preferred location for client log files is here: Drive:Program Files(x86)SMS_CCMLogs.

x64

Client operating systems (OS) will have client log files placed in this directory: C:WindowsSysWOW64CCMLogs.

x86

32-bit client operating systems (OS) will have client log files placed in this directory: C:WindowsSystem32CCMLogs.

Here is a list of log files in CM 2007:
