What Windows 8 brings to businesses

Looking more like a Zune product guide, Microsoft has released a document to better describe the new, enhanced, and updated features built into Windows 8 that make sense for business adoption.  There’s been a lot of talk about Windows 8 and it being more consumer targeted because of it’s touch-feely UI, but there are still some big benefits for companies that have still not migrated to Windows 7. In fact, in the paper Microsoft describes Windows 8 as “Windows 7 only better”.  Not sure who came up with that mantra, but IMO they need to rethink that one.  Only Apple can get away with tag line like that.  Reminds me of the statement made to Dan Quayle by Lloyd Bentsen during the 1988 VP debate:  “Microsoft, you’re no Apple.”

Anyway, the paper describes some solid features within Windows 8 that are good for business.  Things like:

  • AppLocker
  • BitLocker
  • Windows To Go
  • Client Hyper-V
