What Wally Said: Migrating Packages between SCCM 2007 and SCCM 2012

Continuing in our “What Wally Said…” series, here’s another question posed to Wally Mead during his SCCM Guru webcast in December 2011.

Question: Have you guys migrated any packages from SCCM 2007 to SCCM 2012 and if so are there any issues?

Wally:  Yes we have, thousands of them. The biggest pain point is to ensure that you use UNC paths for the package source location, and not local paths. When the package gets migrated, it maintains the same package source location, which if a local path, will not be valid on the ConfigMgr 2012 site server.
