What Wally Said: Migrating from 32-bit ConfigMgr 2007 to 64-bit ConfigMgr 2012

Continuing in our “What Wally Said…” series, here’s another question posed to Wally Mead during his SCCM Guru webcast in December 2011.

Question: If 2012 is all 2008R2/64bit, how much effort is it to move/migrate from SCCM2007 on 2008/32bit to it?

Wally: Since it is a side-by-side migration, just a normal migration process. That is immaterial of the 32-bit to 64-bit stuff. The migration documentation to review is: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-ca/library/gg682006.aspx. Check the Virtual Hands-on Lab site on TechNet for a virtual hands-on lab for migration and test it out in a virtual environment. It actually is very simple to accomplish.
