The US-CERT today has issued a warning that Windows 10 version 1507 will no longer receive security updates after May 9, 2017. Version 1507 is the original release of Windows 10 that Microsoft delivered in July 2015.
Those who are close to technology and those that support Windows in their businesses are probably already aware of this deadline, but the US-CERT is ensuring that more people become aware. Once updates are no longer available, this version of Windows 10 will become vulnerable – and that also means that hackers and attackers will be ready to exploit security holes.
Microsoft’s own KB article explaining the 1507 update expiration is here: Windows 10 version 1507 will no longer receive security updates
After May 9, 2017, Windows 10 devices running version 1507 will no longer receive security and quality updates. Microsoft recommends updating devices to the latest version of Windows 10 by visiting the Software Download site and selecting Update now to manually update your device.
Security updates will continue to be made available for both Windows 10 Enterprise 2015 LTSB and Windows 10 IoT Enterprise 2015 LTSB.
