Tip: Turning on Nearby Sharing in Windows 10 April 2018 Update (1803)

Windows 10 April 2018 Update has a feature that allows you to share content with nearby devices over Bluetooth or Wi-Fi.

To locate and enable (and disable) the setting in Windows 10 April 2018 Update, go to…

Settings – System – Shared Experiences

Here you’ll find the option to enable Nearby Sharing, choose whether to share with Everyone Nearby or My Devices Only, and select where the received files will be stored.

When you choose Everyone Nearby as the option, anyone within Bluetooth range or on the same Wi-Fi network will be able to connect and share with you. If you choose My Devices Only, you can limit sharing to just the devices configured to connect with the sharing device. Be careful with this setting, and definitely turn it off when not in use.
