If you to exclude Microsoft Teams from installing as part of the overall Office 365 ProPlus installation, you’ll need to modify the XML file with the ExcludeApp element.

Use the Office Deployment Tool to make the modifications to add the ExcludeApp element:

<Configuration>
<Add OfficeClientEdition=”64″ Channel=”Monthly”>
<Product ID=”O365ProPlusRetail”>
<Language ID=”en-us” />
<ExcludeApp ID=”Teams” />
</Product>
</Add>
</Configuration>

BIG NOTE: This same ExcludeApp element must be added to each and every ProductID element in the XML file. For example, if you intend to only install MS Project – even at a later date – the same ExcludeApp element must be included. You can’t get away with using it just once in a single ProductID section of the XML File.

Example:

<Configuration>
<Add OfficeClientEdition=”64″ Channel=”Monthly”>
<Product ID=”O365ProPlusRetail”>
<Language ID=”en-us” />
         <ExcludeApp ID=”Teams” />
</Product>
<Product ID=”ProjectProRetail”>
<Language ID=”en-us” />
         <ExcludeApp ID=”Teams” />
</Add>
</Configuration>
