Alexa Tip: Adjusting the Echo Speaker Audio Equalizer

A recent update for its Echo speakers (and subsequently coming to other Alexa-enabled speakers), Alexa users can now use the voice-assistant to alter audio tones.

Examples of things you can say…

“Alexa, increase bass.”
“Alexa, increase bass in living room.”
“Alexa, set movie mode.”
“Alexa, set night mode on bedroom TV.”
“Alexa, set bass to three on sound bar.”
“Alexa, decrease treble.”

Prior to this capability, Echo owners could only adjust volume using voice. This new equalizer (EQ) and sound mode controls is also available for developers and hardware manufacturers, but its available for Amazon’s devices first.

The Equalizer function supports both Bands and Modes.

  • Bands: Bass, Midrange, and Treble
  • Modes: MOVIE, MUSIC, NIGHT, SPORT, TV

Additionally, the updated Alexa app also now contains an Equalizer option.
