Windows 10’s March 2017 Cumulative Update Installs a Creators Update Advertisement

There’s a lot of talk that the next version of Windows 10 may be Microsoft’s biggest attempt at turning the operating system into an advertising platform. There’s already evidence that its coming in recent OneDrive advertisements inside File Explorer.

In February, Microsoft skipped delivering security patches to its Windows platform and promised to begin again in March. The updates are now available, but for Windows 10 users, the update has brought something a bit more interesting than just patched security holes. This latest cumulative update has also brought with it more advertising.

After the cumulative update is applied, the Windows Update component in Windows 10 Settings now contains an ad for the next version of Windows 10…
