Terry Myerson Out as Microsoft Rethinks Windows

Microsoft today has announced a major shake-up that primarily affects the Windows unit, but also puts even more focus squarely on cloud.

One of the bigger pieces of news is that the company will reorg its Windows unit and put more focus on utilizing Windows to drive customers to its cloud services and operations. As part of this piece, Terry Myerson will be leaving Microsoft, but will stay on temporarily to help with knowledge transfer.

Other pieces of note:

  • Panos Panay will now serve as our Chief Product Officer
  • Joe Belfiore will continue leading our Windows experiences
  • Rajesh Jha will expand his existing responsibilities to lead a new team focused on Experiences & Devices
  • Alex Kipman will lead a new AI Perception & Mixed Reality (MR) team
