Review: VAUX Speaker and Portable Battery for Amazon Echo Dot

I could honestly begin and end this review in a single sentence: This is absolutely the most brilliant Alexa device accessory and you definitely need one.

And, really, that still wouldn’t do this device justice. The speaker is just a bit shorter than the large Echo and just a tad bit thicker than the Echo Dot, but this could possibly be the best accessory available right now.

The speaker is phenomenal. Audio is exceptional. And, considering that the large Echo speaker from Amazon still hovers around the $150 mark when its on sale, The VAUX beats it hands-down. For those that already own a Dot, this is a $49 accessory to turn it into a mixture of the Tap’s portability and the Echo’s solid speaker. If you’re just looking to get into Alexa devices, the VAUX with an Echo Dot is still $50 less than the large Echo.

The VAUX is a speaker for the Echo Dot first and foremost, but also provides a portable battery so you can transport the Echo Dot around the house. The battery is rated for 6 hours.

Recently I wrote about the Fremo Evo Battery Base for Echo Dot. That on its own is a cool device, but it only provides the portable battery and not the speaker. The VAUX provides both and does so for only about $20 more.

Amazon has the VAUX for $49: VAUX Cordless Home Speaker + Portable Battery for Amazon Echo Dot
