Microsoft delivers two types of updates for both Windows 10 and Windows Server 2016.
Feature Updates are delivered roughly every 6 months. These are larger updates that represent an OS refresh and include new functionality.
Cumulative Updates are delivered once a month. Cumulative Updates represent all the fixes developed in a month’s time.
Microsoft is now attempting to rename Cumulative Updates to Quality Updates. Quality Updates is used to state that the update is improving the quality of the installed OS.
For now, you’ll see both names used, but eventually Quality Updates will become the standard.
