Processor Vulnerability and Microsoft Surface Devices

Fixes for the processor bug reported in the last couple days is making its way to customers of various devices.  Not familiar? See: Upcoming Intel Chip Security Fix Will Take Deep Cuts in Computer Performance

Microsoft began distributing fixes for its affected products including Azure, Windows, and SQL Server early this morning. But, some of Microsoft’s Surface device customers attempted to install the released update without success. The installation failed. The issue is simple – the complete fix is to install both a firmware and a software update. Microsoft has made the software update available, but the Surface firmware update is still in development.
