GPO / Windows 10

Preventing Microsoft Edge from Opening the First-run Web Page on Start

After an upgrade or in some cases, after an update, Microsoft Edge will display a welcome page the first time its launched. This causes annoyance to both end users and IT administrators. But, a new GPO setting for Windows 10 Creators Update allows administrator to modify this behavior.

This can be set for the Computer or User context and is located at:

Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Microsoft Edge\Prevent the First Run webpage from opening on Microsoft Edge

NOTE: This setting is only available for Windows 10 Creators Update (1703) or later.
