PowerShell Core 6 Moves From Alpha Code to Beta

The next big version update to PowerShell is moving along. Released as very early cross-platform, open code a few months ago, the team developing it has now delivered the first beta.

What’s new…

  • Moving to .NET Standard 2.0 – can work with both Windows PowerShell (down to .NET 4.5.1) and PowerShell Core 6
  • Telemetry – added census telemetry using Application Insights
  • Linux distro expansion – now also available for Ubuntu 14.04, Ubuntu 16.04, CentOS 7, OpenSUSE 42.1, Arch Linux, RHEL 7.2/7.3, and Debian 8
