I’ve been keeping a close eye on whether or not my brands of TVs will get Alexa integration. At the start, I’d check almost daily – but now I’ve relaxed a bit an check weekly.
I’ve considered just biting the bullet and snagging a Logitech Harmony hub, but the $250 price is steep. However, I just recently identified a much cheaper option that works just as well.
The AnyMote Smart Universal Remote Control is a device, an app, and an Alexa skill that when combined give you the ability to control many different media devices in your home. The concept was developed as a Kickstarter and has made its way to normal consumer channels. The app works for iOS (iPhone and iPad) and Android and the service works with thousands of devices. If your smartphone has an IR blaster built in, you actually only need the app. The AnyMote device is a remote IR gadget that allows your phone or tablet to connect through Bluetooth.
- The device: AnyMote Home Smart Universal Remote Control
- The app: For iOS – For Android
- The Alexa skill: AnyMote Smart Remote
The device (if needed) is only $59 compared to the $250 for the Logitech Harmony hub.
