This was expected to happen eventually, but it looks like Amazon forgot to talk about enhanced Fire TV capability today when it revealed a huge stack of upcoming products for the holiday season.
Amid the non-stop revelation of new Alexa-enabled products, Amazon announced an updated Fire TV device that will start shipping on October 25. This new one will deliver new features like Vivid 4K Ultra HD up to 60 fps, HDR, and Dolby Atmos audio and an Ultra-fast processor and 802.11ac Wi-Fi.
However, not mentioned is that new Alexa capabilities will transform any TV into a much larger Echo Show. The product page shows the following…
Some of this is not new to Fire TV, however the ability to review camera feeds and control other smart home devices is new – bringing Fire TV capability closer to the Echo Show at a much cheaper price and that works with existing TV equipment.
The new Fire TV device is available for pre-order now: All-New Fire TV with 4K Ultra HD and Alexa Voice Remote
