New Delivery Optimization GPO Settings in Windows 10 Creators Update

Windows Update Delivery Optimization lets you get Windows updates and Windows Store apps from sources in addition to Microsoft. This is valuable for Windows Updates in that updates can be downloaded to a single or multiple PCs on the local network and then used as sources for all the other PCs. This saves bandwidth. There are two distinct Delivery Optimization options: PCs on your local network and PCs on your local network and PCs on the Internet.

Windows 10 Creators Update provides some new settings for Delivery Optimization and they can be now be managed through GPO. These settings are new to Windows 10 Creators Update but are available for all supported versions of Windows 10

These settings are only available for the Computer context and are located at:

  • Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Delivery Optimization\Allow uploads while the device is on battery while under set Battery level (Percentage)
  • Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Delivery Optimization\Enable Peer Caching while the device connect via VPN
  • Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Delivery Optimization\Minimum disk size allowed to use Peer Caching (in GB)
  • Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Delivery Optimization\Minimum Peer Caching Content File Size )in MB)
  • Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Delivery Optimization\Minimum RAM capacity (inclusive) required to enable use of Peer Caching (in GB)
