According to the communicated plan, Microsoft has officially closed down its Developer TechRewards program today. Just as the company did when it ended other programs like TechNet subscriptions, it is offering alternatives. And, just like with the TechNet subscriptions, the alternatives really aren’t as all encompassing as customers would have hoped.
Here’s what Microsoft is offering as replacement for the TechRewards program:
- Channel 9 brings forward the people behind Microsoft Products and connects them with those who use them.
- Microsoft Virtual Academy provides free online IT, Developer, and Data Science training by world-class experts to help you build your skills and advance your career.
- Visual Studio Dev Essentials has everything you need to build and deploy your app on any platform.
- IT Pro Cloud Essentials is a free annual subscription which includes cloud services, education, and support benefits.
Customers with existing TechReward points must redeem those points by midnight tonight, January 6th, 2017. After that, the points are lost.
