Microsoft Says Mass Fireball Virus Infiltration is Overblown

In the latest round of security industry against Microsoft, Check Point security experts have reported that over 250 million computers were infected by the Fireball virus – and that that number exceeds the 200,000 infected by WannaCry.

In a rebuttal blog post, Microsoft denies the account and instead gives its story about how it has been tracking the virus since 2015 and was in total control of the situation.

Microsoft is working with Check Point to review its data.

This comes on the heels of antitrust complaints filed by Russian security firm Kaspersky. Microsoft also took to its blogs to refute Kaspersky claims: Microsoft Touts Customer Choice and Partnerships in Possible Response to Antitrust Allegations
