Microsoft Releases Additional Guidance for Configuration Manager and Speculative Execution

Last week, the director for SCCM engineering at Microsoft said to hold off a bit before deploying updates for the recent rash of processor vulnerabilities due to some incompatibilities with SQL Server. He also promised that further guidance would be supplied.

That additional guidance has now been posted: Additional guidance to mitigate speculative execution side-channel vulnerabilities

The guidance includes the SQL Server information and also provides approaches for the three different levels of Configuration Manager implementations including:

  • Configuration Manager
  • Configuration Manager with Microsoft Intune (hybrid)
  • Microsoft Intune
