Microsoft is building yet another gateway to its cloud. This time the bridge is through a local service that allows customers to select local files and folders to automatically sync directly to Azure storage. The feature works much like the client-side OneDrive product.
The preview has now been refreshed and Microsoft is suggesting testers update to the new version:
Azure File Sync gives customers the ability to…
- Centralize file services in Azure storage
- Cache data in multiple locations for fast, local performance
- Eliminate local backup and DR
But…ultimately, its about moving more on-premises operations into the cloud where Microsoft has pinned its future and its revenue.
