Microsoft Re-releases Windows 10 Cumulative Updates Because Something was Missing

Microsoft Re-releases Windows 10 Cumulative Updates Because Something was Missing

Forgotten or just not ready yet? That’s the question on many customer minds today after Microsoft re-released a couple cumulative updates.

Stated in the re-releases for 1709 and 1803, Microsoft says…

This update has been re-released because of a missing solution. If you installed build <build number>, please install this newer version of OS build <bigger build number>.

These cumulative updates originally delivered on September 20th, and then re-released just three days later. In a world where Microsoft’s customers have a difficult time trusting Microsoft’s patches, this doesn’t make it any better. Microsoft doesn’t go on to say exactly what was missing, or if the missing “thing” was critical to function or security.

Forgotten or just not ready yet? Neither explanation brings the warm and fuzzies.
