A few month’s ago, Microsoft put restrictions on all of its supported operating systems so that a special Antivirus registry flag was required before the computer would update. This requirement coincided with the critical Meltdown/Spectre security vulnerabilities introduced by Intel microprocessors. Last month, the company removed that restriction from Windows 10 versions.
This month, the company has finally removed the AV restriction from all support Windows versions. The registry key is no longer required and all Windows versions should receive updates.
