Microsoft Announces the Cortana Skills Kit for Enterprise

Microsoft Announces the Cortana Skills Kit for Enterprise

Unfortunately, Microsoft has been unable to make any headway with developers for Cortana, so the company today at Ignite has announced a new Cortana Skills Kit designed for Enterprises.

The Cortana Skills Kit is essentially rebranding, though. The kit is not really new – Enterprises have been able to utilize the current developer tools to do the same thing – its just being repackaged so that Enterprises might get interested in trying it out.

Of course, it’s important to note that during the kick-off keynote by Satya Nadella, Microsoft’s CEO, both Cortana and Alexa were mentioned – in the same sentence. So, Microsoft’s true focus here is a bit confusing. Microsoft and Amazon have partnered to bring Alexa to Windows 10 and Xbox, while Amazon is bringing Cortana capabilities to its Echo devices.

As of today, the tool is only in private preview. Microsoft was reluctant to announce when it would be made more widely available.
