Microsoft Continues to Smooth the Upgrade for Windows 10 Creators Update with Compatibility Patches

We noted here on myITforum just the other day that Microsoft is working to phase the delivery of Windows 10 Creators Update to PCs worldwide and in some cases have blocked the upgrade until errors can be resolved. To solve some of those issues, Microsoft is silently delivering compatibility updates. These updates deliver through Windows Update like normal, except these don’t require a restart of the computer – so unless one checks for updates manually using the Windows Update area in Windows 10, they’ll never know the updates exist.

The first two compatibility updates released and deliver on April 25 alongside the most recent non-security cumulative update. They are:

KB4020001 – Compatibility update for upgrading to and recovering Windows 10 Version 1703
KB4020002 – Compatibility update for upgrading to Windows 10 Version 1703

Its assumed that once these compatibility updates are delivered some of the earlier blockers Microsoft has put in place will be lifted.
