Today at its Enterprise product announcement conference, Ignite, Microsoft finally confirmed officially that it will be replacing Skype for Business with its newest Office 365 gem, Teams.
For customers to prepare for the change, Microsoft will not be renaming Skype for Business, as some have suggested, but instead will be promoting Teams as the preferred communication tool for enterprise licensees. Skype for Business will still exist – and even get an update next year – but Microsoft will be suggesting that companies move to Teams. Teams will also be architected to work with Skype for Business to give customers time to make the switch.
