Kwikset Adds Alexa Functionality to its Kevo Smart Locks

Whether or not you think Alexa capability for home door locks is a safe add-on for your smart home, you have to admit that its still pretty cool to open your house with just your voice.

Kwikset has now unveiled its Alexa integration with a new skill that works with the Kevo Smart Lock system – which includes a lock, and app, and the Kevo Plus Bluetooth add-on. The Kevo Plus is Kwikset’s key to better securing a device that accepts voice commands. For the lock to actually work with your voice, Alexa has to hear you and your smartphone must have the Kevo app installed and it must be in range of and connected with the Kevo Plus Bluetooth device. So, you have to be pretty close to the smart lock, but you also have to have your smartphone paired and connected.

Where to get it: You can locate the Kevo Skill in the Amazon Alexa app, enable it using your voice, or use the following web link: Kevo

You can say things like:

“Alexa, ask Kevo to list my locks.”
“Alexa, ask Kevo to check the front door.”
“Alexa, ask Kevo to lock my front door.”

Here’s the compatible smart lock: Kwikset Kevo Smart Lock

And, the Kevo Plus is an add-on purchased directly from Kwikset for $99:

Alexa is available for Amazon devices Echo, Dot, Tap, Fire tablets, and Fire TV, but also on iOS, Android, and the web with
