The name summons the remembrance of a Seinfeld episode where Jerry couldn’t remember the name of a girl he was dating, but knew it sounded like the name of a female body part – but, Japan’s Naver and Line are developing a voice AI platform called Clova. The name actually stands for: “CLOud Virtual Assistant.”
Under “Project J,” Clova incorporates Line’s chat-based communication technology and Naver’s new digital assistant service named AMICA. The cloud-based service will be launched for not only smartphones but also a range of products, such as consumer gadgets and home devices.
