Intel Releases Management Engine Critical Firmware Update

A serious flaw in Intel processors was reported on November 20th, followed by the release of an updated vulnerability assessment tool.

Today the company is finally providing a critical firmware update. The update is not available directly from Intel, however.

Intel has provided system and motherboard manufacturers with the necessary firmware and software updates to resolve the vulnerabilities identified in Security Advisory SA-00086.

Contact your system or motherboard manufacturer regarding their plans for making the updates available to end users.

Intel is unable to provide a generic update due to management engine firmware customizations performed by system and motherboard manufacturers.
