Over the weekend, Intel began successfully testing updates to repair the reboots to newer processors caused by the delivery of firmware to protect against the Meltdown/Spectre problems.

We have now identified the root cause for Broadwell and Haswell platforms, and made good progress in developing a solution to address it. Over the weekend, we began rolling out an early version of the updated solution to industry partners for testing, and we will make a final release available once that testing has been completed.
Of course, this means that one more update will be required to install.
Intel is also telling OEMs to stop delivering the current set of updates and wait for the new patch to be ready to distribute.
