Microsoft is set to start delivering its next big Feature update in the next few weeks. Called Windows 10 Spring Creators Update, there are dozens of new features, improvements, and enhancements. But, alas, with every new Feature update, Microsoft also deprecates features that no longer make sense, or are replaced by new technologies.
One of those identified so far, is the HomeGroup networking feature for Windows 10.
HomeGroup has been around a long while. If you’ve never used this before: A HomeGroup is a group of PCs on a home network that can share files and printers. Using a HomeGroup makes sharing easier. You can share pictures, music, videos, documents, and printers with other people in your HomeGroup.
In the online doc called HomeGroup from start to finish, it says this…
HomeGroup will be removed in the next feature update for Windows 10. After you install that update when it’s available, you won’t be able to share files and printers using HomeGroup. However, you can still do these things by using features that are built into Windows 10.
