Tip: Getting the List of Windows Services that are Stopped or Running Using PowerShell

If you need to identify those services running on a Windows PC or server that are in the “stopped” state, use the following PowerShell command:

Get-Service | Where-Object {$_.Status -eq “Stopped”}

The output will show each stopped service name and service display name.

Alternatively, replace “Stopped” with “Running” to get the list of services currently operating.

Get-Service | Where-Object {$_.Status -eq “Running”}

Additionally, get the full list of installed services simply by running:

Get-Service
