According to a new study prepared by Spiceworks, the majority of business across the globe will be investing in on-premises server hardware for the near term. While some on-premises processes will be handled by the cloud, corporate-owned hardware is still a very hot budget item for at least the next 3 years for larger organizations.
Medium and small businesses continue to utilize cloud services to maintain cost savings. But, larger organizations with thousands of employees, large support staff, and even larger data centers will continue to invest in new and replacement hardware.
Per the report, some of the reasons for new hardware investment include:
- Company growth
- Performance degradation of existing infrastructure
- Maintenance costs associated with aging hardware
- Reliability issues
