Dell Removes Spectre Patch, Cites Intel Guidance

As we reported yesterday, Intel had a breakthrough over the weekend in identifying a bug in its Spectre patches that would cause bluescreens and reboots. Per that alert, Intel asked that OEMs stop distributing patches.

Dell today has announced that it is following Intel’s guidance, has removed the tainted update from its servers, and that customers should wait for further instruction.

Expect other PC manufacturers to follow suit.
