ConfigMgr 2012 offers a new “app store” feature where users can shop for apps and request approvals for installation. As an ConfigMgr admin, you just make the apps available and let the end-user and their manager decide what they need.
Utilizing Service Manager 2012, you can enable even richer functions, forcing application requests to require manager approvals. But, what if you don’t have Service Manager implemented or intend to?
Coretech has been working on several plug-ins and solutions for ConfigMgr 2012, and Kent Agerlund just emailed me that the beta of their Application Approval Server has been released. Application Approval Server gives ConfigMgr 2012 customers the ability to send email requests for application approvals, without the need for Service Manager 2012. Pretty slick! The email itself makes the approval process really simple by providing links to “approve” or “deny”.
