The System Center Configuration Manager team has released another update to ConfigMgr today. Update version 1704 offers the following new features:
- Secure Boot inventory data – Hardware inventory can now determine whether the device has Secure Boot enabled (enabled by default).
- Run Task Sequence step – This is a new step in the task sequence to run another task sequence, which creates a parent-child relationship between two task sequences.
- Reload boot images with latest Windows PE version – During the “Update Distribution Points” wizard on a boot image, you can now reload the version of Windows PE in the selected boot image.
The parent-child Task Sequence ability is a long sought after capability for customers. This has been a long time coming and means that administrators can run sub-routines within the primary routine.
Additionally, this update brings the ability to create app configuration policies for Android apps from Google Play.
As always, the latest update, in this case version 1704, is available through the Configuration Manager console. If you need to install a new instance for testing, always start with the baseline branch that can be obtained from the TechNet Evaluation Center.
