Amazon WorkDocs Tip: File Icon Meanings

WorkDocs is Amazon’s collaborative, cloud-based file storage system very similar in function to Microsoft’s OneDrive, and Google’s Drive.

When it is installed and the virtual storage workspace is created, the file representations show up on Windows systems in Explorer as the W: drive. Within this file structure, users can see and access the files created by them and share with them. Each file has an associated icon to provide a quick-glance representation of a specific file status.

Here’s the specific icons and meanings:

  • Blue arrow icon indicates that a file is syncing to the cloud.
  • Blue cloud icon indicates that a file is stored in the cloud.
  • Green checkmark icon indicates that a file is stored locally.
  • Blue star icon indicates that a file or folder is marked as a Favorite.
