Amazon launched Amazon Polly a few months back and at the time, the thought was that this technology would eventually enable Alexa to have more voices. But, that never happened – until now.
Google announced new voices for its Google Assistant devices this past week at its big marketing reveal event, and many in the media began wondering if Google had leapfrogged Amazon’s Alexa capabilities.
Not to be outdone, Amazon has announced that Amazon Polly is now available to Alexa developers…
Beginning today, you can apply to participate in a developer preview that allows you to use eight Amazon Polly US English voices for utterances in your Alexa skills for free. This new capability can help you enrich your skill’s experience, making it more engaging for customers. For example, you can give a different voice to each character in adventure stories and games.
