Amazon Tap on Sale for $79 But VAUX Still Better Deal

Amazon today has put its Tap device on sale for just at $79. Find it here: Amazon Tap

However, there’s a significant caveat with purchasing the Tap. Even though its a great device with a built-in speaker and rechargeable battery, Amazon has sort of sent the Tap device out to pasture. The Tap continues to miss important updates with feature additions like Calling and Messaging and the more significant features.

Amazon’s focus is now on new devices like the Show and to support the more popular devices like the Echo Dot.

We recently tested and reviewed a device Ninety7, Inc. called the VAUX Cordless Home Speaker + Portable Battery for Amazon Echo Dot (review HERE).

The VAUX is $49 and there’s even an option to include a Dot bundle that combines the VAUX and Dot for just $89. That’s $10 more than the Tap that’s on sale, but its also a more supportable situation – meaning all the most current features will work and Amazon is still supporting the Dot for new functionality.

The VAUX is probably the best add-on for the Echo Dot. I was so enamored from my testing that I’ve since purchase a VAUX speaker for every Dot we have in the house.

We’ve tested the VAUX so we know its a sound investment. We will be testing the MOKCAO POWER+ Cordless Speaker with Battery Base soon – which is similar to the VAUX except that it also provides an extra charger port for juicing your smartphone or other device. The price is the same as the VAUX. Keep an eye out for that review.
