Amazon Refreshes Its Fire TV Stick with 4K and New Alexa Remote

Amazon today is announcing a refreshed version of its Fire TV Stick. This is different than the medallion type it released earlier this year and the boxy looking version with Alexa built in released just recently.

Here are some new features:

The all-new Alexa Voice Remote now controls the power and volume on your compatible TV, sound bar, and A/V receiver. This is extra handy when you only want to keep track of one remote.

Finding 4K content is easy. Using the all-New Alexa Voice Remote just say, “Alexa, find 4K movies” or “Alexa, find 4K TV shows.” If you haven’t seen Breaking Bad in 4K, it’s on Netflix right now, definitely worth the re-watch.

A new Wi-Fi antenna design that’s optimized for the best possible 4K Ultra HD streams so that you get the clearest picture possible.

Fire TV Stick 4K provides access to 4K Ultra HD, Dolby Vision, HDR, HDR10+, and Dolby Atmos. If you don’t know what any of that means, that’s ok. You just need to know it’s going to look and sound amazing. There are thousands of titles available in 4K Ultra HD, HDR, HDR10+, or Dolby Vision with more being added all the time.

The Fire TV Stick 4K is $49.99 and releases on October 31, 2018.

Incidentally, this does NOT replace the current Fire TV Stick, which is still at $39.99. The reason is that the new 4K stick may not be compatible with your current TV, so Amazon is providing both.
