Amazon recently released FreeTime for Echo Devices, allowing existing Echo speaker owners to install kid-friendly features. This is in addition to the Kids Edition Echo device the company released in early May.
When the FreeTime service was delivered for Echo devices, it was released without support for Smart Home integration. (See: Alexa Gotcha: Adding FreeTime to an Echo Speaker Disables Smart Home Capability).
Amazon today has announced that it has now delivered Smart Home capabilities to devices running FreeTime.
Smart Home is now available with FreeTime on Alexa. Kids have access to features including the ability to control compatible smart lights and outlets that allow them to easily turn devices in their house on and off with just their voice. Plus, smart lights controls will allow kids to cycle through preset lighting scenes on compatible devices to really amp up the fun.
Smart Home features work with FreeTime, without additional setup by parents. Parents can easily turn on and off Smart Home functionality through the Amazon Parent Dashboard based on their preference. This feature can be found under “Settings” as “Smart Home Access”.
