Amazon Adds Code-based Linking for Third-party Alexa Devices

Similar to how many services like Hulu, Netflix and others go around having to enter the account username and password to setup on a new hardware device, Amazon is delivering the same type of functionality for third-party Alexa devices.

We are excited to announce Code-Based Linking, a new authorization method that allows customers to easily link their Amazon account with an Alexa-enabled product. Device makers building Alexa-enabled products that have limited capabilities for customer input such as smart TVs, wearables, or automotive accessories, will greatly benefit from this new feature of the Alexa Voice Service (AVS).
