Alexa with Touchscreen, Phone, and Videoconferencing Could Come Tuesday

Rumored last week to deliver soon, the rumor mill is heating up again today with the Wall Street Journal suggesting that the Amazon Echo upgrade – with full touchscreen and voice phone calling capability – could launch as early as Tuesday, May 9, 2017.

Amazon recently launched another device – the Amazon Look, which is an Alexa-enabled camera for fashionistas.

Potential new features (including an improved speaker):

  • 7-inch Touch screen
  • Internet phone call capability (using Chime and possibly Skype)
  • Voice recognition
  • Price tag: over $200

To help spur rumor, Amazon has dropped its price on its premium Echo device in the last couple days – supposedly to take advantage of the upcoming Mother’s Day. A new Echo is just $149 while a certified refurbished Echo is $135.
