Alexa Tip: YouTube is Currently in Restricted Mode on Echo Show

For those purchasing an Echo Show, you might be scratching your head on this one.

When you ask Alexa to search for YouTube videos, you might get the following message:

YouTube is currently in restricted mode. To configure, look in settings in the Alexa app

The Echo Show has a restricted access setting and YouTube is in this list by default – probably due to the potential of rated material.

To remove YouTube from the restricted list…

  1. Tell Alexa to “Go to settings,” or swipe down from the top of the Echo Show screen and select Settings.
  2. Locate and select Restrict Access.
  3. Locate YouTube and disable restricted access.
