Alexa Tip: Working with Named Timers

In addition to rolling out more robust Reminder features, Amazon also enabled “named timers.” Named Timers give Alexa device owners the ability to set multiple timers and give each their own names. By doing this, Alexa can be queried for how much time is left, but also able to manage many timers in a list.

To set a countdown timer and give it a name, say something like…

Alexa, set a laundry timer for 20 minutes

Once the timer has been set you can ask to see how much time is left, or to stop, cancel, or resume the timer. For example…

Alexa, cancel the laundry timer

If you have named timers set, you can use the Alexa app to manage them by going into the Alerts & Alarms area in the Alexa app settings and then the Timers tab.
